Porthcawl Elvis Festival is an annual event which sees thousands of Elvis fans descend on the Welsh seaside town for a unique celebration of The King. This year’s festival takes place from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th September.
The festival has been going since 2004 and is said to be the biggest Elvis festival in Europe, with 20 local venues taking part and more than 100 shows to enjoy.
During the festival, shows take place in the Grand Pavilion including The Elvies, the world’s leading award show for Elvis tribute artists. There are 100 ETAs (or Elvis tribute artists) expected over the festival weekend. The festival kicks off on the Friday with heat one of the Elvis competition, and a show featuring three top Elvis tribute acts.
Hi Tide will be hosting more than 100 shows during the weekend, some of which will have free admission. There is also a fringe festival based around the town, most of these events are also free. This year’s events will include an Elvis Coastal Walk and an exhibition of tribute acts.
