What is it?
Salcombe Town Regatta will take place from 5th to 12th August in Devon, with sailing events and quirky competitions.
This year’s highlights will include a mud race, waiter and waitress race, ice cream eating competition, pig racing, a sandcastle competition, and a water torchlight procession.
The regatta will kick off on Saturday 5th August with boating events and a pub quiz trail. The weekend entertainment will continue with a beer festival, street party, water treasure hunt, crab catching, greasy pole, and a magic show on the Sunday.
On the Monday there will be sailing, rowing, and cycling events, as well as yoga on the beach, a land treasure hunt and art stalls. Tuesday will see a harbour swim, boat show, mud run, waiter and waitress race, ice cream eating competition, and fancy dress parade taking place.
The entertainment will continue on the Wednesday with pig racing at the Ferry Inn, children’s activities, talks, music and demonstrations. On the Thursday there will be street entertainment, sailing, a sandcastle competition, a water torchlight procession and fireworks.
Friday will have raft races, a swimming gala and a crabber’s race, before the regatta wraps up on the final Saturday with a family fun day and prize giving.
