What is it?

Europe’s largest street art and graffiti festival, Upfest, will return to Bristol from Saturday 29th to Monday 31st July, showcasing artistic talent from across the globe.

Returning to the streets of Bedminster for the ninth year, the festival attracts thousands of visitors, offering free entertainment for all the family. This year, more than 300 artists will live paint over the three days; painting super-sized street murals, shop shutters, boards, and small, almost hidden works.

The 2017 artist line-up will include street art duo, Pahnl, whose miniature people, dogs, cats and birds can often be found outside in the street. The duo take their influence from comics and street signage, whilst adding their own subversive twist. Last year, Upfest attracted artists from more than 40 countries world-wide and as far-flung as Canada, Australia, Argentina, Israel and Europe, giving visitors the chance to meet some of the world’s most talented urban artists.  This year’s line-up is expected to be just as diverse.

As well as the live painting, visitors can enjoy affordable art sales, children’s areas, kids graffiti workshops, music stages and live entertainment.  On the Monday, a special children’s programme will offer activities and workshops so that kids can get involved throughout the day.

Once again, Upfest will be raising money for The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA) which offers aid and assistance for children growing up in families affected by alcoholism.
