What is it?
The Furness Tradition Festival aims to promote the folk music traditions of Cumbria, and this year’s event will take place in Ulverston from Friday 7th to Sunday 9th July. The festival will feature live music, dance displays, storytelling, workshops, and a parade.
The festival begins on the Friday night with a gathering in the Coronation Hall, which will feature an evening of music and storytelling performances. On the Saturday there will be an exhibition in the Coronation Hall, a grand opening parade, and live music in the Market Cross. There will also be storytelling from ‘Madam Bridget’s Caravan of Curiosity’ with Ian Douglas at Ulverston Library.
In the afternoon there will be an acoustic concert, free pub music sessions, ‘Tales From the Wild Edge’ storytelling, and a Painting The Tales talk.
Later in the evening the entertainment will continue with dance, music, song and stories at the Big Merry Neet, and free Late Night Fireside Stories in the Hope and Anchor beer garden.
The Sunday will feature music and storytelling workshops, dancing outside the Coronation Hall, and a farewell concert.
