What is it?
Charlestown Regatta Week will take place from Saturday 22nd to Friday 28th July in Cornwall, with a whole host of nautical and quirky events.
The regatta aims to bring a week of fun and entertainment to the area, for both residents and visitors to enjoy. Money raised from the event goes towards community projects, including the children’s playing field and the Christmas lights.
This year, the events kick off on Saturday 22nd July with Regatta Day, featuring a triathlon, a raft race, sailing races, water polo, a pasty competition, a knobbly knees contest, children’s entertainment, and the crowning of the Regatta Queen.
This will be followed by Sea Sunday, where there will be a BBQ, Cornish cream teas, the Charlestown Challenge Gig Race, a pasty making workshop, and live music. Musical Monday will feature an evening of live music and dancing, and Tuesday will see a day of children’s sports, including the Annual Egg Extravaganza.
The Grand Carnival will take place on the Thursday, with a procession featuring local bands and a floral dance. The Regatta Week finale on the Friday will have an evening of open air live music with the Regatta Rocks event (this event is ticketed).
