What is it?
The Chap Olympiad is one of Britain’s most eccentric sporting events. This year’s Olympiad takes place at Bedford Square in London on Saturday 15th July.
It will be the 13th year that the annual gathering of elegant and unathletic chaps has taken place.
The Chap Olympiad is a ‘celebration of sporting ineptitude and immaculate trouser creases’. The games reward panache rather than sporting prowess, and require the minimum of physical exertion. Events are designed to separate the chaps from the cads. Gentlemen (and ladies) compete to win the coveted bronze, silver and gold cravats, or take a self-congratulatory puff of the Olympiad pipe.
Expect eccentric and silly games such as the Tea Pursuit, Riding Crop Rumpus, Moustache Envy, the Versus Cravat and Umbrella Jousting. The dress code for the event, as one might expect, is elegant finery, period military wear, formal wear and dandy wear. No casual clothing or sportswear will be allowed, except for cricketing whites.
The Chap Olympiad is organised by The Chap magazine, a magazine for the modern English gent.
Why not polish your monocle, don your finest tweed, and head to The Chap Olympiad?
