What is it?
The Portrush Raft Race Weekend will take place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May, in aid of the RNLI.
As well as the raft races there will be lifeboat tours, a 1km open water swim, and a chance to get a selfie with Stormy Stan, the RNLI’s Storm Force mascot.
The weekend kicks off on the Saturday at 10.30am with stalls and the RNLI’s coastal safety roadshow. This will be followed by the junior raft race and children’s activities including slides, a bouncy castle, a pirate walkabout and a kid’s disco.
During the afternoon there will be lifeboat tours, live music, a rookie lifeguard challenge and a circus skills workshop. A beach tug of war will also take place between the rafting teams and the RNLI will be doing rescue displays. The main highlight of the day, the raft race, will begin at 3.30pm.
Sunday will feature activities and competitions throughout the day including beach yoga, beach volley ball, a big dip, a welly wanging contest, a paddleboard challenge, an open water swim and a fun dog show.
The Sunday will also feature vintage vehicle and campervan displays, and a boat, kayak and surfboard showcase.
