What is it?
John Foster’s neo-noir play, Chummy, is on at London’s White Bear Theatre from Tuesday 23rd May to Saturday 10th June.
Chummy explores the mind of a serial killer in the moments before his first murder. Desperate to control himself, the mysterious psychopath ‘Chummy’ pleads with private investigator Jackie Straker to stop him killing.
This gripping new stage play by BAFTA winner John Foster (Letters from a Killer, BBC’s Omnibus) is a 21st century theatre-noir; a thrilling story of addiction, obsession and the lack of support that drives people to act on their most secret desires.
Staging another genre-piece after their critically acclaimed sci-fi hit Stasis, Encompass Productions are producing Foster’s neo-noir Chummy in its world premiere at the newly refurbished White Bear Theatre in Kennington. Director Alice Kornitzer promises to bring a certain cinematic feel, nodding strongly to the neo-noir genre rarely seen on stage, for a unique exploration of this psychological thriller.
Writer and academic John Foster, is known for his BAFTA-winning BBC Omnibus on Raymond Chandler and Patrick Swayze-starring Letters from a Killer, as well as recent sellout play Shot at Dawn.
