Build your own vinyl record player from scratch in Newcastle

By Caroline King - April 25, 2017Posted in : Classes & Workshops, Museum, Music

Build your own Vinyl Record Player from Scratch - Discovery Museum - Newcastle When: 29th & 30th April 2017

Where: Discovery Museum, Blandford Square, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4JA

£: Tickets cost £5 (+ booking fee)

What is it?

The Discovery Museum in Newcastle is giving visitors the chance to make their own record player on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th April.

Using simple junk materials, build your own working vinyl record player to take home and use.  Why not dust off your old records and bring them along on the day to play?  You’ll need to bring 33rpm or 78rpm discs (no 45rpms).  Please note, you should use old records, rather than your most precious records.

The record player workshops will be hosted by vintage sound recordists Lathe Revival. This event is part of Maker Month. Maker Month is part of Maker Faire UK, presented by Life Science Centre and supported by the Reece Foundation and Make Magazine.
