When: 29th April – 1st May 2017
Where: Brixham, Devon
What is it?
Brixham Pirate Festival will take place from Saturday 29th April to Monday 1st May, with swashbuckling live music, a shanty town, historic ships, and pirate skirmishes.
This year the Brixham Pirate Festival will be hosting the historic Neo Victoria, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan’s ship. Visitors will be able to view the ship during the festival.
The live music this year will come from bands including The Captain’s Beard, Gurdybird, The Salts, Hornswaggle, The Boarding Crew, The Pyrates, and Black Friday, who’ll be singing sea shanties and maritime folk music.
There will be reenactments taking place over the weekend, including a skirmish aboard the Golden Hind and on the Nao Victoria, so watch out for marauding pirates wielding guns!
The Shanty Town attraction will return again this year, complete with skeletons and gibbets. There will be plenty of children’s entertainment in Prince William Square, with stilt walkers, fire eaters and mermaids.
The festival always encourages visitors to get into the spirit of the event and dress up in their best pirate-themed outfits.
