What is it?
Don your fancy dress and head to Bristol Museum & Art Gallery on Thursday 23rd March for a monstrous and mysterious evening. Booty, Baddies and Beasties promises an adventure of theatrical performance, immersive film, dark sounds and blood curdling storytelling, with the epic poem Beowulf.
Guests will enter Grendel’s swampy lair and be inducted into the games and training needed for the testing time ahead. There’ll be an atmosphere of suspense, soundscapes, music, and animations, as the creatures and monsters of the museum come alive, appearing on the walls and whispering from the ceiling.
Expect swords, storytelling and rap battles as the historic tale of Beowulf is retold through a contemporary lens. The interactive evening will begin at 8pm, with a break in the action provided by experts who will illuminate Anglo-Saxon life, culture, and gold. The adventure will continue until 10.30pm with battles and dragons.
The bar will be open during peacetime, but maybe closed during firefights or skirmishes, so guests can drink, sing and be merry!
