What is it?
Rye Bay Scallop Week 2017 will take place from Saturday 18th to Sunday 26th February. This year’s event will see 25 restaurants, in and around Rye, serving scallop dishes on their menus.
There will also be a host of themed events during the week, including cooking courses, demonstrations and taster events.
Webbe’s at The Fish Café will be repeating their Scallop School, now in its 12th year, where participants will prepare (and eat) their own seven course luncheon.
Webbe’s will also be holding a cooking demonstration and luncheon, where Paul Webbe will be demonstrating the versatility of the prized molluscs. This will be followed by a five course luncheon.
At the recently refurbished Horse & Cart in Peasmarsh, guests will be invited to learn how to make pizza dough, and how to prepare and poach scallops, to assemble and cook a scallop pizza. Also returning this year, to the Landgate Bistro, is the Scallop Bash; a seven course tasting menu.
This year’s entertainment will include 6hr Stint at the Ypres Castle Inn on Friday 17th February, Titus at the White Dog Inn on Sunday 19th February, Rye Ukulele Experiment at the Queen’s Head Inn on Tuesday 21st February, the Logan Wilson Band at the White Dog Inn, and a Big Scallop Quiz at the Queen’s Head Inn on Sunday 26th February.
