What is it?
The Forestry Commission’s National Arboretum at Westonbirt will be transforming into a sensory winter wonderland.
Westonbirt’s annual Enchanted Christmas event will take place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, from the last weekend of November to the weekend before Christmas.
At the heart of the Enchanted Christmas event lies a spectacular lighting display, that takes decorating the tree for Christmas to a whole new level. Westonbirt’s majestic tree collection will be illuminated, to create a magical experience for the whole family. A new lighting design is created each year, taking in around a mile of the arboretum’s paths.
The trail itself is pushchair and wheelchair friendly, and features exciting interactive displays for the family to enjoy along the way.
There will be a packed programme including free Christmas crafts, festive stiltwalkers, classic carols, a traditional children’s carousel, and a shop where visitors can stock up on festive goodies.
Father Christmas himself will be there, dressed in traditional green and helped by his cheeky elves. Children will be able to share their Christmas wishes in exchange for a small gift.
Mrs Christmas will also be keeping kids entertained with storytelling time in her yuletide yurt, while mums and dads warm up with a mulled wine, hot chocolate or hog roast.
