What is it?
Patterns, a venue on Brighton’s seafront, will be offering customers the chance to get lost in an enchanting snowy forest this Winter, without leaving the warmth of the cosy venue.
Launching this November, Patterns invites you to step through a transformed mystical entrance, and discover the enchanted forest of Woodlandia. The venue will be filled with nostalgic treats and immersive visual feasts inspired by Britain’s woodlands and the wild outdoors in Winter.
The ground floor bar will be transformed into a winter wonderland reminiscent of scenes from The Chronicles of Narnia. It will be brought to life by a digitally projected forest, complete with softly falling snowflakes, inquisitive wild animals and scents of the forest air.
Inside, there will be festive treats such a boozy hot chocolate menu and hot buttered rum to enjoy, as flocks of birds fly around the room and snow foxes dart about.
The digital forest has been created by Brighton based digital projection artist Thomas Buckley, as an extended sequel to his two-day Digital Autumn project at The Brighton Dome. Woodlandia will be in place for three months from early November to February, giving the installation time to evolve and grow with the seasons. After Christmas, the forest will begin to thaw and turn green with the first flushes of spring.
There will also be a series of specially curated immersive events and workshops taking place, inspired by the natural world.
Patterns is located opposite the iconic Brighton pier, within strolling distance of the station. The venue was launched in 2015 by the Mothership Group, and is spread over two floors with a wood-decked south-facing outdoor terrace.
