What is it?
Wells next the Sea’s Pirate Festival takes place from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th September in Norfolk.
The festival kicks off on the Friday with The Smugglers Ball at 7.30pm, upstairs in the Maltings. Music at the ball will be provided by the Chest of Pogs. Tickets for the ball cost £6, which is suitable for adults only. Smugglers attending the ball should bring a tankard along with them for drinks.
On the Saturday and Sunday there will be entertainment and activities taking place from 10am until 5pm. The events will mostly be taking place at the Maltings and Staithe Street Car Park. Festival visitors should expect a pirate market, toss the jellyfish, a treasure trail, stalls and games, boat trips and pirate camp on the quay, and a Voices from the Past heritage open day at the Maltings. There will also be a best dressed pirate competition.
On Saturday evening there will be a chance for adults to play some Blackbeard Badass Bad Taste Bingo at the Maltings.
