What is it?
Hot air balloons of all shapes and sizes are set to dominate the skyline as the Wales International Balloon Festival takes place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September in Llangollen.
Static balloon inflations will take place at regular intervals over both days, and there will be spectacular balloon assents on both mornings and evenings. Visitors will also be able to enjoy arena demonstrations, including Cheshire Falconry and the Xtreme Stunt motorcycle team.
The Saturday evening Glow Show will see sky-high performers, the Red Devils parachute display team, followed by balloons lighting up their burners to music; all capped off with a firework display.
Sunday offers displays from the Galloping Acrobats and a mass balloon race. The race will start between 5pm and 6pm, when pilots will compete for the specially designed, British Ironworks Centre Balloon Race trophy.
Wales International Balloon Festival aims to raise funds for Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham. It costs more than £2.82 million to run Nightingale House Hospice, which equates to more than £7700 per day. Only 19% of this comes from the Local Health Board, so the hospice greatly relies upon on the generosity of the communities it serves in North East Wales, to raise the additional funding.
