Things get hairy as the Great Gorilla Run returns to London

Great Gorilla Run, London

Getting ready for the Great Gorilla Run

When: 17th September 2016

Where: City of London

£: To enter the run costs £60 (each entrant should try to raise £200 through sponsorship).  Free to watch.

What is it?

On Saturday 17th September, the 14th annual Great Gorilla Run will take place in London.  The event sees hundreds of fun runners, dressed as gorillas, attempt an 8K course through the City.

It costs £60 to register for the event.  This includes the gorilla costume, which participants get to keep afterwards. Bill Oddie will be there to cheer on the gorillas.

As it is a fun run, participants may run, jog or walk the 8K.  This year there will be trophies for the best-dressed gorilla, the biggest team, the highest fundraiser and the furthest travelled gorilla.

If you don’t feel up to an 8K run dressed as a gorilla, then why not head along to cheer on the runners instead?

So far, the event has raised over £2 million for gorilla conservation and poverty reduction projects in central Africa.
