What is it?
On Saturday 8th October, Framlingham in Suffolk will welcome sausage lovers from all over the country to its annual celebration of the British banger.
The Great Framlingham Sausuage Festival is an annual event which is a little different to other food festivals. Visitors to the festival will get to go on a sausage trail, tasting all kinds of bangers along the way, in order to help decide on the 2016 Sausage Champion.
A trail map will take visitors on a tour of sizzling sausages, around the historic market town. Tasting and judging the 18 competing sausages, from 17 local producers along the way. This year there will be three sizzling categories in the competition; classic pork, pork free, and the best gluten free. Over half the sausages will be gluten free, which is great news for those with special diets.
As well as the sausage tasting, there will be an array of fun workshops, including ceramic painting, hand massage, pizza making, petanque, story making, pet care, and escapology. Plus there will be entertainment including magic shows, performances from escapology artist Greg Chapman, and dog agility shows.
Visitors should keep an eye out for the festival mascot Teddie (Theodora the dachshund), and for those who wish to complete the trail in style, limo rides will be available during the day.
At the end of the day, visitors can join the sausage producers at the John Grose Showroom on Station Road, to see who has won the festival awards. There will be free celebratory bubbly and nibbles all round to celebrate.
