When: 29th September – 30th October 2016

Where: Faskally Wood, near Pitlochry, Scotland

£: Tickets cost £14-£20 for adults and £7-£10 for children

What is it?

The Enchanted Forest, a sound and light show at Faskally Wood in Pitlochry, will take place from Thursday 29th September to Sunday 30th October.

Now in its 15th year, the show prides itself on raising the creative bar with a changing theme each year, and this year’s theme will be Shimmer. Visitors can expect creative and shimmering displays, including a larger-than-life character and a walk-through ‘wall’ of light.

The Enchanted Forest uses dazzling visuals, innovative design, an original music score, and the forest as a natural backdrop, to create a unique light show.  The show fuses the creative talents of Kate Bonney and Simon Hayes (lighting designers) with RJ McConnell and Jon Beales (sound designers), to create an outdoor experience that aims to set visitors’ imaginations alight.

Last year the show attracted a record 62,000 visitors. This year is expected to be just as popular, with more than 65,000 tickets on sale. The Enchanted Forest Community Trust are advising customers to book early to avoid disappointment.

Faskally was purchased by the Forestry Commission in 1953, and covers 365 hectares.  The area where the Enchanted Forest will take place is approximately 66 hectares in size.

The forest contains 25 recorded species of tree, of which only a handful are native; Scots Pine, Silver and Downy Birch, Ash, Oak, Rowan, Common Alder, Hazel, and Bird Cherry.  The oldest tree at Faskally is approximately 200-225 years old.
