What is it?

Looking for a unique bank holiday family experience?  Then the Mendip Mower Racing Family Festival might be just what you’re looking for.  The festival, which is now in its 5th year, takes place from Saturday 27th to Monday 29th August in Somerset.

The Mendip Mower Racing weekend usually attracts around 2,000 people each year, rain or shine. This year’s event promises a weekend of live music and high-octane family entertainment.

The main lawn mower racing will take place on Sunday and Monday, whilst Saturday will be a dedicated family day, packed with activities and a classic car show.  Live music, a beer festival, and a country market will take place over the whole weekend.  The family area will have activities such as zorbing, facing painting, and forest school.

Live music will come from the likes of The Wurzels, Lauren Male, The Seaside Strummers, and The Pineapple Poets. The beer festival will have over 30 real ales and ciders on offer, provided by Twisted Oak, Tiny Rebel Brewery, and other local craft brewers.

Mendip Mower Racing supports the important and valuable work of YMCA Somerset Coast, which provides supported accommodation for young people, homeless emergency accommodation for families, and employment and training opportunities for all.

YMCA Somerset Coast is funded through grants and fundraising. The Mendip Mower Racing weekend is their biggest fundraiser of the year.  During 2015 YMCA Somerset Coast supported 475 young people and families with accommodation and care; supplied homeless emergency and supported accommodation for 36,053 nights; alongside providing training and apprenticeships for 40 young people across Somerset and North Somerset.
