Head to Scotland for the Carve Carrbridge chainsaw competition

What is it?

On Saturday 3rd September, the 14th annual Carve Carrbridge will take place.  Carve Carrbridge is the Scottish Open Chainsaw Competition, and the event attracts the best chainsaw carvers from both the UK and further afield.

A band of 24 chainsaw wielding artists will take on an unassuming eight foot long log each, with the intention of turning it into something beautiful in just four hours. Carve Carrbridge is a unique four-hour speed carving competition, where competitors are only allowed to use chainsaws and no other form of cutting tool.

This is followed by a 30 minute quick carve competition, which produces spectacular results in such a short space of time.

The gates open at 10am and the events kick off with a piper leading in the carvers at 10.25am.  The chainsaw competition then begins at 10.30am.

There will be pipe band performances throughout the day and the competition prize giving takes place at 4.30pm. After the contest the wood carvings will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to the community.

In addition to the chainsaw carving there will be wood turning, a beat the goalie contest, a woodland orchestra, a fun fair, a crockery smash, a forestry school, face painting, and axe throwing.

There will be free vintage shuttle buses from Landmark and Station Road car parks.  All profits from the event will be donated to local charities and invested in community projects.
