What is it?
To celebrate the birthday of daiquiri devotee Ernest Hemingway (and National Daiquiri Day), Chelsea’s hidden drinking den, Barts, is throwing a special party.
On Thursday 21st July, Barts will be recreating the enchanting atmosphere of the iconic cocktail bar, Floridita. Floridita is home to the daiquiri and was Hemingway’s favourite Havana watering-hole.
To celebrate the occasion, Barts will be offering a night of canapés, swing dancers, vibrant music and, of course, a wealth of bespoke daiquiris.
Guests will be able to revel and relax the Heming-way whilst enjoying a summery cocktail menu dedicated to the legendary novelist and rum-connoisseur himself. Raise a birthday toast with Hemingway’s very own creation, the signature Papa Doble. Papa Doble is a classic daiquiri with double rum, pink grapefruit juice, maraschino liqueur, sugar syrup, and zingy lime juice.
Rumor has it, Hemingway once drank a record sixteen Papa Dobles, so what better way to honor Hemingway than to sample his prized cocktail?
Barts is a quirky ‘speakeasy’ style bar in Chelsea. It is the brainchild of Inception Group’s Duncan Stirling and Charlie Gilkes, who also own 80’s themed nightclub, Maggie’s, Brazilian-inspired bar Cocobananas, Mr Fogg’s, a Mayfair bar modelled on the home of Jules Verne’s Phileas Fogg, and Cahoots, a 1940s-inspired late night bar set in a hidden underground tube station.
