What is it?
The Chap Olympiad is one of Britain’s most eccentric sporting events. This year’s Olympiad takes place at Bedford Square in London on Saturday 16th July 2016.
It will be the 12th year that the annual gathering of elegant and unathletic chaps has taken place.
The Chap Olympiad is a ‘celebration of sporting ineptitude and immaculate trouser creases’. The games reward panache rather than sporting prowess, and require the minimum of physical exertion. Events are designed to separate the chaps from the cads. Gentlemen (and ladies) compete to win the coveted bronze, silver and gold cravats, or take a self-congratulatory puff of the Olympiad pipe.
Expect eccentric and silly games such as the cucumber sandwich discus, the Martini relay, and umbrella jousting. The dress code for the event, as one might expect, is elegant finery, period military wear, formal wear and dandy wear. No casual clothing or sportswear will be allowed, except for cricketing whites.
The Chap Olympiad is organised by The Chap magazine, a magazine for the modern English gent.
Why not polish your monocle, don your finest tweed, and head to The Chap Olympiad?
