What is it?
Patterns will be celebrating their first year of opening with an eccentric free all-day birthday bash, featuring erotic cake decorating, balloon headdress making and boozy jelly.
The bash will take place on Saturday 7th May at Patterns on Marine Parade in Brighton. Since the venue opened, Patterns has run a diverse programme of arts, music and cultural events, reflecting the eccentric culture of Brighton. With everything from burlesque to bingo, ping-pong to parents and kiddie’s parties, boozy hot dog brunches to art and craft fairs, it has come a long way in just a year.
To celebrate and thank the people of Brighton for their love and support, the cult music and culture hotspot is throwing a free birthday knees-up with a whirl-wind taster of Patterns events, lots of cake, and even some party bags. The party will also celebrate the launch of their newly refurbished outdoor terrace, and act as a warm up to the launch of The Dog Haus Summer Sizzler Terrace Parties.
Food will be provided by The Dog Haus at Patterns, who will be serving up their signature hot dogs and bottomless boozy brunches. Guests will be able to watch an epic burger vs hotdog cook-off between Brighton stalwarts The Dog Haus and Iceberger; each team will be demoing specially curated recipes, fighting to the finish.
From 4pm, guests will be able to get down and dirty with some birthday cake. Bring clean hands and dirty minds for erotic cake decorating, with X-rated cupcakes and chocolatey balls. There’ll also be balloon sculpting from Miss Ballooniverse. Ever wanted a fruit salad headdress made of balloons? Now’s your time.
Cult Milk will be there, giving a taste of the Sunday Social Club’s monthly arts and crafts event with arty goodness galore, including fortune-telling, adult toy racing, glitter wizards, and badge making. Patterns collective of resident DJs will be providing the birthday soundtrack selections from 2pm.
As always on Saturdays, there will be free entry until 10.30pm, after which the downstairs club session with Jackmaster and Kórnel Kóvacs will get cracking.
Patterns is located directly opposite the iconic pier on Brighton beach, in strolling distance from the station. The venue was launched in 2015 by Mothership Group (behind The Book Club, Queen of Hoxton, Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen in London). Spread over two floors with a wood-decked south-facing outdoor terrace, Patterns is a popular day-to-night hangout.
