What is it?

If you are looking for a dog-friendly day out, then head to the annual Port Eliot Dog Festival & Whippet Tea Party, which will take place on Saturday 7th May.  The event will be hosted by Port Eliot House & Garden in St Germans, Cornwall.

The festival, which takes place in Port Eliot’s grounds, will have a dog show with fun classes including the ‘dog who most looks like their owner’.   There will be an array of stalls, artisan food, cream teas and live music.

The highlight of the day will undoubtedly be the Whippet Tea Party, a special picnic which dogs come from far and wide to enjoy.  Last year the event attracted over seven hundred people and dogs, this year is expected to be just as popular.

Port Eliot’s house and gardens are both Grade I listed, and it is believed that Port Eliot is the oldest continually inhabited dwelling in the UK.  The House was formerly known as Port Priory and in the Middle Ages it was a flourishing monastic port. Built and modified over the centuries the house received a major refit in the 18th century by Sir John Soane.

Port Eliot Dog Festival & Whippet Tea Party will once again be held in support of the Children’s Hospice South West.
