What is it?
Head over to the Grade II listed grandeur of the Old Joint Stock in Birmingham this May for a festival of quirky comedy and extraordinary performances. The wonderfully intimate theatre will once again be hosting the Birmingham Cabaret Festival, which this year takes place from Wednesday 4th to Sunday 29th May.
The first Birmingham Cabaret Festival took place last year and was a great success, so the Old Joint Stock have decided to hold the festival again this year. Visitors to the festival are invited to bask in the secluded decadence of the elegant venue for entertainment including the most delectable femme fatales, quirky comedy and extraordinary performances. The festival aims to surprise and delight audiences in an up close and personal manner.
The cream of the UK’s cabaret scene has been selected by the Old Joint Stock team with the sole purpose of discovering performers to set pulses racing and tongues wagging. There will be eclectic performances from The Footsie Club, Amber Topaz, Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer, Kiki Lovechild, Stagedoor Johnny, Eastend Cabaret, Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, Yeti’s Demon Dive Bar, and Dr Sketchy’s Drink and Draw.
In addition to the cabaret acts there will also be gin tasting evenings on 6th and 20th May, giving guests the chance to learn the history of gin, and taste six gins from independent producers.
