What is it?
The Ropewalk Fair takes place in Bridport on 9th and 10th May 2015, celebrating the town’s traditional rope and net industry. This year’s fair will feature exhibitions, guided tours, demonstrations, activities and stalls.
There will be a free exhibition on Bridport’s rope and net heritage in the Town Hall. The exhibition will be on until the 16th May 2015 and will offer visitors the chance to discover and learn more about the history of rope and net making in and around Bridport.
On Saturday 9th May there will be guided tours around Bridport with local historian, Richard Sims, at 11am and 2pm.
Entertainment throughout the day will include a heritage marquee, rope and net making demonstrations, children’s play equipment, community stalls, beat the goalie, a climbing wall, Artescape, live music, and locally produced food and drink.
There will also be a mass skipping event at 2pm and a tug of war competition at 3pm.
All proceeds from the Ropewalk Fair will go to support the Bridport Museum and Bridport Literary & Scientific Institute restoration projects.
