Where: Takes place along the Settle to Carlisle railway line, Cumbria

£: All walking events are free.  There is a small charge for talks to cover costs and music events are free, but donations are most welcome.  No booking is required, simply turn up at the start of each event.

What is it?

The ride2stride is a festival of walks, talks and music along the picturesque Settle to Carlisle railway line.

Celebrate the picturesque landscape with walks led by experienced leaders, hear speakers share their love of the local area or simply enjoy music and song in one of the pubs.

ride2stride - Settle-Carlisle Walking Festival All of the walks begin and end at one of the stations, so simply turn up at the time of the event to take part.  The festival’s walks range from easy and leisurely, to strenuous, full day long walks.

This year’s walks will include a Decoding the Landscape walk with Dr David Johnson of Ingleborough Archaeology Group and a Ribblehead Heritage Tour with the viaduct being the highlight.  Other walks taking place include Conservation & Farming in Ribblesdale, and Highway to Ancient Woodland.

The talks taking place during ride2stride will include Historical Roads, Routes and Lines of Travel by Dr David Johnson and Lady Anne’s Way with Sheila Gordon.  There will be live music sessions each evening from 4pm at various local pubs.

If you are planning to join in with the walks, please remember to wear suitable clothing and footwear, and take enough food and drink.
