What is it?
The 10th annual East Allington Whacky Races take place on Saturday 9th May 2015 in Devon. The event sees competitors race their gravity-powered karts down the village’s steep hill.
The rules for the Whacky Races are fairly simple. All karts must be powered by gravity only, no pedals or sneaky engines allowed. The karts should be built with no sharp edges or loose glass, and competitors should wear a crash helmet. Finally, the karts should be as wacky as possible!
The karts race one at a time against the clock. The fastest kart on the day will win the coveted Luscombe Trophy. There will also be a prize for the best looking kart.
The day begins at 11am for registration, with the first heats starting at 12pm. At 2pm the children’s races take place, followed by the adult kart finals at 3pm.
All the proceeds from the East Allington Whacky Races event will go to local groups and charities.
