What is it?
The community based Belper Arts Festival will take place between 2nd and 30th May 2015 in Derbyshire.
The festival will include literature, art, theatre, film, photography, dance and music, at venues throughout Belper. This year there will be a Belper Arts Festival Trail on 3rd and 4th May, with local artists and makers displaying their work throughout the town.
For book lovers there will be a range of events including book launches, poetry workshops, and a Big Book Day on 17th May. For those looking for something a bit different to do, there will be a scarecrow workshop on 9th May, and a morris dancing workshop on 8th May.
On 23rd May, the Berlperamble will take place. This event, with a theme of transport, will take visitors around the town, meeting characters created by local writers and actors. Other theatrical events include Build a Play in a Day, and an outdoor Derbyshire folk tale, Village Green.
Musical events at this year’s Belper Arts Festival range from piano recitals and family concerts to contemporary folk and jazz.
There will also be film screenings, special children’s events, and an Open Houses event from 23rd to 25th May.
