What is it?
On Tuesday 19th May, Stories on Broadway Market in London will bring you a tournament to get the pulses, and cars, racing.
TRAX Slot Car Racing is London’s first and only slot car bar. Based on the 1960s American trend for slot car racing, the twice monthly night will be the place to have a drink whilst competing for gold and glory on the plastic track.
The track will consist of slots to race four unique cars. It will all be designed in a 1980s neon street-racer style, think Ryan Gosling in Drive. The competition is played out across the evening, depending how many races you win. There will be a retro arcade machine and Sega Mega Drive to keep competitors busy between races.
You can get creative by personalising your car in a special custom shop, either on a purchase or rental basis. 1980s inspired cocktails will be available on the night, as well as side games such as a rally course, a drag straight, a stunt track, and a free old school racer arcade machine to maintain your reaction times.
As the evening plays out, your scores will be projected for all competitors to see. However, there will be prizes for the bottom end of the leader board too. There will be prizes for the best designed car on the night and the fastest lap. Prizes will include a bar tab, a novelty gift, and a joke prize.
A refundable deposit is paid for the car at the beginning of the night, and an entry fee of £5 per person secures your space on the grid. Participants have the option of buying their own car from Trax, which allows free entry to other race nights hosted at Stories.
Trax is an adaptable course and each fortnight it will change layouts and style, keeping the games interesting for new and returning racers.
