What is it?

The Red Bull Soapbox Race sees competitors design and build outrageous soapbox machines, to compete against the clock, in a downhill race.  This year the race will be taking place in London on Sunday 12th July.

The Red Bull Soapbox Race is an international event which sees amateur drivers race homemade vehicles, powered only by gravity and courage.  Red Bull has held over forty soapbox races around the world since 2000, with events in places such as Australia, South Africa, Jamaica and Italy.

Over the years the event has encouraged teams to create a variety of vehicles, from realistic replicas to the quirkiest designs the imagination can conjure up.  This includes a piano, a giant baby carriage, a rodeo clown, a massive corn on the cob, a jail cell and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Judging for the Red Bull Soapbox Race is based on speed, creativity and showmanship.  This means that it is important for teams to try to be the fastest across the finish line; but it is also important for teams to have a lot of personality, showing as much originality and creativity as possible. Racers will also need to wow the judges with their stage routine and dazzle them with their showmanship.

If you think you have what it takes to win the Red Bull Soapbox Race in London, then you’ll need to apply before 31st March 2015.
