What is it?
Outsid’er is Cornwall’s annual outdoors festival, running from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th April with bike tours, kayak adventures, wacky races, sand sculpting, and pop up orchestras.
This year, sand artist Tony Plant will act as the festival’s Artist-in-Residence, creating whole beach sand drawings on Porthtowan and Chapel Porth over the weekend. On the Saturday visitors will have the opportunity to join in creating a sand drawing on Trevaunance Cove in St Agnes.
In addition to Tony Plant’s sand drawings there will be star-gazing on the beacon, a Cornish language heritage walk, and a surf cinema. Anna Maria Murphy from Kneehigh and musicians Bagas Degol will be bringing their Salt Road show to Outsid’er with an evening of stories and music about the sea.
The highlights on Friday 10th April include a rockpool ramble, a hula hoop workshop, a sand sculpting competition, and the opening night beach feast and bonfire. Saturday’s highlights include a special one-day skate park, a chance to bling your bike, storytelling, stargazing, and a photography scavenger hunt. Sunday’s highlights include a beach clean and the St Agnes Pop Up Orchestra. Sunday will also see the first Push, Pull, Pedal, Wacky Beach Race, at Trevaunance Cove from 3pm.
