What is it?
The 7th Velo Vintage Occasion & Ride will take place on Saturday 11th April 2015 in Devon. This quirky cycle ride promises to be very varied and quite different, with gentle pedalling along dedicated cycle routes, combined with some town centre cycling and a few jolly surprises.
The day will begin at 9am when all the registered riders will be handed a starter envelope. Participants will then be given time to visit the Barnstaple Heritage Centre, with their rider number allowing free access. For those in need of a morning cuppa, there is a vintage tea room adjacent to the registration station.
At around 10.15am it will be time to twirl your tache, brush your hair and smile for a group photograph, before the Grand Depart at 10.30am. During the late morning and afternoon, the ride will allow for some cycling with truly wonderful people. This will include a stop where refreshments can be purchased, whilst enjoying the accompaniment of some wandering minstrels.
Participants will be cycling on the Tarka Trail, through parks and along a cunning route through the very heart of the town centre. A Devon Cream Tea can then be enjoyed, in what the organisers promise to be a magical and surprising setting.
There will be a final bit of cycling before participants reach the final venue, where it will be time to enjoy a welcome drink, some music, presentations to the worthy winners and Roz’s Raffle. The official close of the day will be at 6pm, however, as with previous Velo Vintage outings, the evening will no doubt continue in some manifestation for those wishing to carry on the fun.
There are further Velo Vintage events planned for 2015 in June, September and December.
