The Mighty Deerstalker, Traquair House

At the starting line – the dapper Mighty Deerstalker competitors get ready.

When: 14th March 2015

Where: Traquair House, Innerleithen, Peeblesshire, Scotland

£: Entry costs from £40

What is it?

The 10th annual Mighty Deerstalker takes place at Traquair House in Scotland on 14th March 2015.

The Mighty Deerstalker, Scotland’s original obstacle race, is an adventure run with a difference.  This after dark event, challenges the best dressed competitors over 5km and 10km courses, which start and finish at the picturesque Traquair House.  The race is notorious not just for its challenging terrain with natural and man-made obstacles, but also for those who turn up looking fine and dandy with their tweed, moustaches and pipes.  Competitors are encouraged to raid wardrobes and charity shops for waistcoats, deerstalker caps and kilts to run in.  The race also requires good footwear and a strong headtorch!

Those taking part will receive a t-shirt, medal, chocolate at the finish line and a free post-race drink.  After the race has finished the fun really kicks off with a beer tent and live music until late.  Competitors who want to make an evening of it can buy camping and party passes.

Traquair House dates back to 1107 and was originally a hunting lodge for the kings and queens of Scotland.  It is Scotland’s oldest inhabited house.
