What is it?
GEEK is a festival of games and play, providing a place for families and friends to ‘Meet, Make and Play’. The GEEK 2015 weekend will offer digital and analogue activities for both the casual and the dedicated gamer.
GEEK is mainly a celebration of video games with hundreds of video games to play on hundreds of consoles. Visitors will be able to trace the development of games from the 1970s to the current day, or just find their long-lost favourites. However, it isn’t just about video games, there will also be all new board games, cards, interactive theatre, performance and real life social games for visitors to enjoy.
This year visitors should expect halls filled with classic retro games, unique titles, familiar favourites and indie developers showcasing their creations. The public will be able to visit the Action Zone, Puzzle World, Simland, Future Time and the Minecraft Cave.
The GEEK weekend will also have a full programme of talks and workshops. Visitors can sign up for retro and modern tournaments, with the chance to win some fantastic prizes. There will be time trials on stage, panel discussions, Q&A sessions and specials guests. The Cosplay Masquerade will be returning on the Saturday, after its success at last year’s event.
As well as the event at the Winter Gardens, there will be a range of events going on across Margate as part of the GEEK Fringe.
