Thought Bubble, Leeds Comic Art Festival, is the largest annual festival of its type in the UK. Celebrating sequential art in all forms – from superheroes to independent press artists and writers – the festival is now in its eighth year and features events at sites around the city, including a two-day comic convention (15th – 16th November).
Attracting fans and sequential arts professionals from around the world, this year’s festival includes Scott Snyder, Adam Hughes, Tim Sale, Isobel Greenberg, Babs Tarr and Olly Moss.
Events will span free art and writing-based workshops for young people, talks by industry professionals, competitions from the likes of 2000AD, an exclusive appearance from renowned Mondo illustrators and screenings of sequential art films.
The festival culminates in the two-day Thought Bubble Convention on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th November, with events over the weekend including one of the UK’s largest cosplay masquerades and the British Comic Awards; an annual celebration of the best comics and graphic novels created in the UK. This year’s British Comic Awards will be judged by TV presenter Jonathan Ross, film director Jonathan Entwistle, award-winning writer Jessica Hynes, actor Danny John Jules, best known for playing Cat in Red Dwarf, and Suzy Varty, a comic creator and tutor.
