What is it?

Take a lakeside woodland walk with a difference this autumn as the Festival of Light returns to the National Trust’s Mount Stewart.

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, Mount Stewart will once again host the amazing Festival of Light in its world-renowned gardens over three weekends in November.  Visitors will see the gardens and woods come alive with lights and music.

Festival of Light - Mount Stewart - National Trust The light and sound show will be production managed by Belfast based company Wackiki.  Managing Director, Karl Hunt, said: “We are delighted to have been successful in winning the tender to produce this amazing show.  We supported with the event last year and could see so much potential in developing it over the coming years.  It really is something quite unique for visitors to come and enjoy, and the location provides the most stunning backdrop.”

Mount Stewart was recently chosen as one of the locations for Universal Pictures recent release Dracula Untold, and this has inspired the conservation charity to develop this year’s Festival of Light to the theme of ‘Music from the Movies’.

Rachel Hart of the National Trust said:  “We are very excited about what this year’s Festival of Light has to offer.  Our opening night falls on Hallowe’en and we will be running a special spookily themed light and sound show.  We would encourage all our visitors to dress up for this Hallowe’en Special.  The remainder of the festival nights will be set to the theme of ’Music from the Movies’.  It will be magical and mesmerising and there will be plenty to see from all viewpoints around the garden.”

The National Trust has also partnered with local company Magnakata, who once again will have their Kata Tents on site where visitors can enjoy refreshments and get warmed up by a log fire.
