What is it?

On Saturday 8th November head to An Creagán in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, for the Festival of Lights.

The event is inspired by one of the most beautiful and popular festivals in Thailand, Loi Krathong.  Loi Krathong translates as ‘to float a basket’ and takes place on the full moon in November.  During the evening many people will go to their local river to float their krathongs or baskets. The participants in this festival usually make a wish at the same time.

Festival of Lights - An Creagan - Northern Ireland During the An Creagán Festival of Lights, visitors can create their very own traditional craft.

The Festival of Lights is held courtesy of Thai Arts NI and funded by the National Lottery and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

An Creagán has plenty of facilities and activities for visitors including a restaurant, a craft shop, exhibitions and special events. An Creagán is located between the historic town of Omagh and the market town of Cookstown at the foothills of the Sperrin Mountains.
