What is it?
Chagford Film Festival is a unique and quirky event which takes place in Devon from 22nd to 27th September 2014. The festival offers a mix of eclectic films, events, talks and workshops.
Highlights include a free outdoor performance by Circo Rum Ba Ba on Monday 22nd September at 6pm in The Square. Their show, L’Hotel, tells the charming story of the smallest hotel in the world. On Tuesday 23rd September guests can liven up their week with a ghost walk and storytelling performances, followed by a secret film screening, at the Terrifying Tuesday event. This event costs £10 and is for adults only.
Throughout the day on Wednesday 24th September, from 10am to 5pm, visitors can drop in to the small but wonderful Vintage Mobile Cinema to enjoy free film screenings. Also on Wednesday there is a screening of classic 1920s silent movie, Phantom of the Opera, with live harp accompaniment at the Jubilee Hall.
On Saturday 27th September at 10am there is a special effects workshop taking place at The Globe Inn and the Batmobile from Tim Burton’s 1989 film will be making an appearance in town. There will also be a superheroes fancy dress competition with batman-themed prizes to be won.
In addition to these events there will be plenty of film screenings including Labyrinth, Saturday Night Fever, The Grand Budapest Hotel, African Queen and Inside Llewyn Davis.
