Finger jousting, zombie racing and bog snorkelling at the World Alternative Games

When: 8th – 25th August 2014

Where: Llanwrtyd Wells, Mid Wales

£: Entry fees to compete in the games vary, depending on the event. Some events are free to enter.

What is it?

The World Alternative Games 2014 will bring two weeks of wacky races and crazy contests to the Llanwrtyd Wells area of Wales.

There will be over 60 different events taking place including special events for children to take part in. There will be gold, silver and bronze medals awarded to winners as well as medals for taking part. Competitors will be encouraged to use the events to raise money for charity.

The opening ceremony will take place at 5pm on 8th August.  On the 9th August there will be a Mountain Bunny Hop, a Penny Farthing Race and a Bathtubbing Championship.  The following day will have Worm Charming, Egg Throwing and Finger Jousting on the agenda, as well as a Space Hopper Race and a Unicycle Race.  On the 11th August the games will include a Zombie Race, Rock, Paper, Scissors and Pooh Sticks.  The 12th August will have Snail Racing and a Scooter Slalom.

Other events at the World Alternative Games include Barrel Rolling, Hay Bale Tossing, Husband Dragging, Hula Hooping, Horseshoe Throwing, Backwards Running, Wheelbarrow Racing, Bog Snorkelling and Office Chair Racing.
