The UK National Sandcastle Competition in Croyde

By Caroline King - August 29, 2014Posted in : Uncategorised

When: 31st August 2014

Where: Croyde Beach, North Devon

£: The competition costs £100 for a team of six to enter. Free to watch.

What is it?

On 31st August, the 19th annual UK National Sandcastle Competition takes place on Croyde Beach in Devon.

Teams can register on the day from 12pm and the competition kicks off at 12.30pm.  The teams then have three hours to create their sand masterpiece before the judging begins.  Each team gets a 7m x 7m square of sand allocated to them and only natural materials may be used to decorate the castles.  There is also a family competition this year which takes place at 1pm. Family teams are allocated a 5m x 5m plot of sand.

Spectators are welcome to go along and watch the building of sandcastles.  So why not take a picnic and some beach games and enjoy the fun?  There will be other family friendly entertainment throughout the day including face painting, Punch and Judy shows and a live DJ.

The event raises money for North Devon Hospice.
