What is it?
Help Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson solve a crime at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Shropshire’s Ironbridge Gorge.
The Sherlock Holmes Weekend on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August will give budding amateur sleuths and private detectives the opportunity to help Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson solve a mysterious crime. Visitors can meet the intrepid duo along with their housekeeper, Mrs Hudson from 221b Baker Street in London’s West End. See Holmes and Watson as they travel around the town in a Hansom Cab drawn by a pair of black Friesian horses.
Young visitors are invited to follow a trail of clues around the town and put their powers of deduction to the test. Children can help the eccentric detective and his side-kick solve the curious case of treasure stolen from the Earl of Craven’s mansion. As part of the Sherlock Holmes Weekend, visitors can also try their hand at forensic science, taking fingerprints, printing reward posters and matching plaster cast footprints to different shoes.
Blists Hill Victorian Town gives visitors the chance to experience life as it was over 100 years ago through the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of a recreated Victorian town. The town’s characters give a fascinating insight into Victorian life as they go about their daily lives in their cottages, shops and places of work.
Visitors can find curious remedies in the pharmacy, see traditional skills in action and enjoy some good old-fashioned fish and chips.
