What is it?
The 35th annual Minehead Raft Race takes place on 17th August 2014 at 11.30am. The event is thought to be the biggest sea-going raft race in the country.
The main ‘serious’ race begins from Blue Anchor Bay and finishes at Minehead Bay. There is a shorter fancy dress race which takes place within Minehead Bay. Previous fancy dress rafts have come in the form of caravans, Wild West stagecoaches and even tractors. Competitors have previously dressed up as pirates, penguins and characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The Minehead Raft Race is organised by serving and retired RNLI members.
Following the fun of the races, there will be a fireworks display at the harbourside from 9pm.
