What is it?
Tomorrow sees the return of the Arundel Bathtub Race, now known as the Incredible Arun Bathtub Race. This wacky race has been going for about 25 years and sees competitors raising money for charity by racing up the river Arun, in yes, you’ve guessed it, bathtubs.
The event sees teams of two or more building boats out of bathtubs and getting into fancy dress. This year’s race will begin at 11.30am and there will be various prizes up for grabs, including one for the best design and a Wooden Spoon award for the last across the line.
The Incredible Arun Bathtub Race will have a very special guest in the form of the Dutton Commander Amphibious Jeep. This special vehicle holds several world records and is the world’s only amphibious car currently in production.
Each year, money raised at the bathtub race is donated to Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.
