Running in heels is a bit of a drag in Greenwich

By Caroline King - August 4, 2014Posted in : Alternative Sport, Cabaret

When: 9th August 2014

Where: Greenwich, London

£: Free.  The drag race and street party are raising money for charity, so donations on the night will be welcomed.

What is it?

The annual Greenwich Street Party and Michael Joyce Charity Drag Race will take place on Saturday 9th August 2014. The original drag race began in 2006 and is named after its founder, Michael Joyce, who tragically died in a car accident. The event will be raising money for Prostate Cancer UK and Galop.

From 6pm to 9pm there will be a host of acts on the Cabaret Stage outside the Rose & Crown.

At 7pm the drag race begins at the Rose & Crown on Croom’s Hill. The race heads up Stockwell Street past the Ibis Hotel and right onto Greenwich High Road. The race then takes in Nelson Road and King William Walk, as far as the gates of Greenwich Park, before heading right into Nevada Street and back to Rose & Crown, where the race finishes.

For those who wish to continue the fun there is an after-party at the George & Dragon where DJ Ian James will be on the decks until 4am.
