Wooden wonders at the Carve Carrbridge chainsaw competition

Carve Carrbridge 2014 - Scottish Open Chainsaw Competition When: 30th August 2014, from 10am

Where: On the village sports field, Carrbridge, Inverness-shire, Scotland

£: Admission costs £5 for adults, £2 for under 16s and under 5s go free

What is it?

On Saturday 30th August 2014, Carve Carrbridge, the Scottish Open Chainsaw Competition takes place.  The best chainsaw carvers from both the UK and further afield will be gathering to take part in the competition.

The day kicks off with a piper leading in the carvers at 10.20am.  The Chainsaw Competition then begins at 10.30am.  There will be pipe band performances throughout the day and the competition prize giving takes place at 4.30pm.  After the contest the wood carvings will be auctioned off, with proceeds going to the community.

In addition to the chainsaw carving there will be green wood working, a beat the goalie contest, back country survival, a woodland orchestra, a fun fair, a crockery smash, face painting, splat the rat, a rat race, a Come n Try Bike Park, a pipe band and axe throwing.  Visitors will even be able to have a go at the axe throwing!

There will be stalls selling jewellery, crafts, gifts, art and sweets amongst other things.
