What is it?

Experience 2,000 years of history in one weekend at English Heritage’s flagship event, History Live!, this July.

Ever wanted to find yourself in the middle of a live-action historical blockbuster?  This summer you’ll get your chance, as over 2,000 re-enactors and performers bring the story of England to life over one action-packed weekend.

See thrilling battles, spectacular displays, living encampments from Roman times to the Second World War, silly jesters, gladiators and jousting.  There will be non-stop entertainment throughout the weekend.

History Live! will have a festival atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.  Children can enjoy all the fun of the Victorian Fair and cave painting.  Plus, they will have the chance to become a knight and even ride in a hobby-horse joust.  For adults there will be live music, food stalls, a real ale bar and a historic market to enjoy.
