Folk at the Furness Tradition Festival

What is it?

The 16th Furness Tradition Festival takes place from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July 2014 in Ulverston, South Cumbria.

The festival is run entirely by volunteers and aims to promote awareness of and participation in the folk music traditions of Cumbria.

On the Saturday there will be an opening parade, beginning at 9.50am from the Coronation Hall to the Market Cross. This will be followed by dance displays and performances at the Market Cross through the day.  There will also be storytelling with Ian Douglas at 11am at Natterjacks.  Tickets for this event cost £4.

On Sunday there will be workshops from 10.30am which include song (harmony), storytelling and clog beginners.  There will also be a farewell concert in the afternoon featuring the festival performers.

Free events at the festival will include the Big Gig at the Market Cross, coffee and crafts in the Coronation Hall, a singing session in the Hope and Anchor and a music session in the Old Friends.
