Clovelly Lifeboat Weekend
When: 2nd & 3rd August 2014

What is it?
Clovelly Lifeboat Weekend is held in aid of the RNLI. The weekend is a popular event celebrating the Clovelly Lifeboat ‘Toby Rundle’.
On Saturday 2nd August there will be a sponsored swim from Bucks Mills to Clovelly. On Saturday children aged 7 – 12 years old will have free entry if they turn up dressed in orange (to match the boat). Under 7s already have free entry but are encouraged to dress in orange too.
On Sunday 3rd August there will be a family fun day with games, competitions and music. There will also be a bake-off, a tug of war, children’s activities and a short assault course duck race. The Lifeboat House will be open on Sunday to the public.
The ‘Toby Rundle” Lifeboat will be on demonstration during the day and in the evening.

Ilfracombe Town Crier Parade and Competition
When: 2nd & 3rd August 2014
Where: Ilfracombe, North Devon

What is it?
To commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the First World War and to say thank you to the Ilfracombe residents who died serving their country, there will be a special weekend event. The Ilfracombe Town Crier Parade will recreate the parade which took place as the volunteers went off to war. They originally marched through the town, led by the then Ilfracombe mounted Town Crier, Robert Martin. Many of them died serving their country.
On Saturday 2nd August thirty town criers from the UK and overseas will lead representatives of those who died on a parade from The Pier to Runnymede Gardens. At the gardens the names of those who sacrificed their lives will be cried. On Sunday 3rd August at 10am there will be a Town Criers Competition in Runnymede Gardens. This will be followed by First World War era music on the bandstand in the afternoon.

Shaldon Water Carnival
When: 2nd August 2014
Where: On the beach, Shaldon, South Devon

What is it?
Shaldon Water Carnival is an annual family event. This year the entertainment kicks off at 10am with an official opening, followed by sand sculptures and novelty games.
During the day there will be a fancy dress parade, a magic show, crab collecting and a pillow fight. There will also be sea shanties and a parade of fancy dress boats.
In the evening there will be a children’s disco, live music and a barbecue. The entertainment continues until 11pm.

Crab Day Street Party
When: 3rd August 2014
Where: Dartmouth South Embankment, Devon

What is it?
Restaurateur and fishmonger Mitch Tonks and Rockfish seafood restaurant are hosting the Dartmouth Crab Street Party on 3rd August from 12pm until 4pm.
It will be held on Dartmouth’s South Embankment and promises a wonderful afternoon eating South Devon crab, mayonnaise, salad and bread, followed by local ice cream. There will also be a bar available, musical entertainment from the Nauti Boys, and special guest of honour Angela Hartnett.
So why not sit back and relax with some tasty food while you watch the boats passing you by on the river?
